Chad Kordt-Thomas, LCSW
I am a child psychotherapist and developmental-behavioral consultant in private practice. I present and consult to groups nationally and internationally. I specialize in treating very young children and children of all ages with neuro-developmental challenges, such as Autism. I am endorsed as an Infant-Family and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (California) and am certified by the Profectum Foundation as a trainer of the Developmental, Individual-Difference, Relationship-Based (DIR®) model and its Floortime® therapeutic technique. I consult regularly to other therapists, parents, and preschools and elementary schools. I frequently present on a variety of child development and mental health topics to clinical agencies. I am also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Smith College, School of Social Work. I worked previously as a preschool and elementary school teacher and as an early childhood mental health consultant. I received my clinical training at Infant-Parent Program, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, at the University of California, San Francisco. The Infant-Parent Program is a leader in the field of infant and early childhood mental health. I trained in each four of its treatment modalities: infant-parent psychotherapy, early childhood mental health consultation, developmental-therapeutic playgroup facilitation, and as a therapeutic shadow 1:1 aide. I have also taught D.I.R. theory and practice to several of its trainee cohorts. I received an MSW from Smith College, School for Social Work and an MS Ed from Bank Street College of Education.
