This exciting international DIR® (Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based) conference provides a comprehensive view of individual profiles, including motor development, sensory processing, interoception and visual spatial processing, investigating how that perspective has evolved over time.
Using the latest neuroscience, we'll deepen our understanding of individual differences through engaging presentations, moderated discussions, and the sharing of lived experiences. Through an occupational therapy and interdisciplinary lens, we’ll examine how these topics influence the work of speech and language therapists, physical therapists, creative arts therapists, mental health professionals, educators, allied professionals and parents by impacting communication, emotional expression and learning in the context of relationships.
As a result of this conference you will be able to:
- Identify three current trends in neuroscience research that enhance understanding of individual profiles.
- Describe how an individual’s movement is influenced by their environment and how their movement, in turn, impacts the environment.
- Explain how an individual’s sensory and motor profile affects their ability to relate to and communicate with others.
- Analyze case videos using a multidisciplinary DIR® approach to examine how motor and sensory processing interact and influence engagement and communication.
