Andy Kleiman was a comedian with aspiration of being on SNL until he met a young adult with autism who changed his life. He left the entertainment industry for the well respected (and even better compensated) teaching industry and never looked back. Now this former comedian and current teacher works with students all across New York where he uses his background in comedy to influence his interactions with children with special needs. Andy is a student and teacher of the DIR/Floortime model and holds a M.S.Ed. from City College of New York.

Everybody laughs, that is a universal truth. Laughter brings us together. Heals us. Regulates us. We build relationships through laughter and humor. Through videos, case studies, and a couple of jokes, this presentation demonstrates how to use humor to prepare children to learn throughout their development. It shows why humor is a valuable and necessary tool in unlocking higher thinking. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll learn the power of the joke.
