Faith Condon Thayer, PhD, LPC, LCAT, ATR-BC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT). Faith is a Registered Board Certified (BC) Art Therapist (ATR) and ICDL (Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders) approved Training Leader & Expert DIR® Floortime™ Provider. Faith is She is the Director of Mental Health and DIR® Floortime™ at the Imagine Academy for Autism in Brooklyn. Faith is also an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Program in Special Education at Daemen College - TTI.
Courtney has been working with individuals with Autism, their families, and their clinical teams for 9 years since receiving her degree in Special Education, Early Intervention with a Specialization in Autism from the University of Pittsburgh. From there, Courtney went on to obtain her Board Certification in Behavior Analysis in 2010, is a Licensed Behavior Analyst in New York State, and has been working in direct support and as a behavioral consultant in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and New York. She has worn many hats in her professional work including leading social skills groups, being a transition coordinator, extensive school consulting, program supervisor of a home-based ABA program, and professional development and crisis trainer. Her current role at Imagine Academy focuses on individual program development for each student, behavior management, and staff support and training. All of these roles have helped her grow as a clinician to provide eclectic, collaborative, and individualized supports to the students and families whom she serves.
Carter is the Classroom Coordinator at Imagine Academy for Autism. She holds a Masters in Education from Bankstreet College of Education as well as a post masters annotation in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is also an Advanced DIRFloortime Provider. Before coming to Imagine Academy, Carter taught in both the private and public sector, mostly in New York but also Portland, OR for over 12 years. She believes strongly that DIRFloortime can serve as the foundation for any and all educational settings and she enjoys infusing it into her curriculum planning, classroom routines and community.

This session will demonstrate how to use both ABA and DIR model, sometimes simultaneously, to achieve specific goals. It will highlight the use of a multi-disciplinary team to facilitate student growth. A brief history will describe how we had to grow in order to collaborate in meeting our students’ needs and the struggles of that journey. The session will focus on an individual student and their specific goal achievement through the two lenses, and will include a brief history, the individual profile, developmental levels and relationship building. Video will support the narrative to illuminate the process. Emphasis will be given to how we make qualitative information quantitative.
