Michele Havens, EdD
Michele Havens received her Ed.D. degree from Rutgers University. She is currently a DIR/Floortime Consultant to the Imagine Academy, an autism program in Brooklyn, NY.
Dr. Havens is Professor Emeritus from Kean University, Montclair State University and Daemen College. She is currently an advocate and private interventionist for children with special needs as a DIR-FCD model provider and a facilitator of an autism parent support group. Dr. Havens was previously the coordinator of the Verona, New Jersey Preschool Disabled Program, teaching 3 to 5-year-old students with special needs. She has been a teacher for 43 years and has taught courses both in person and online.
Michele received her DIR model certification in 2010. She is a child-centered professional who integrates DIR-FCD model philosophy and practice with all of her clients, at school and at home. She is currently writing a book about collaborating with families with a physician who is the parent of young man with ASD. Dr. Havens is also the parent of an adult son with learning disabilities.
