Functional Emotional Development Levels 1-4
Lisa deFaria, LCSW, BCD and Griffin Doyle, PhD
This Part 1 workshop introduces the foundational Functional Emotional Developmental Levels of the DIR model approach. This workshop concentrates on the DIR model levels I-IV, creating opportunities to develop the ability to attend and focus, to engage warmly and trustingly with others across a range of emotions, to communicate intentionally with both simple and complex gestures needed for social problem solving, and the emerging sense of self. Emphasis is placed on the importance of a multidisciplinary team that promotes skills of optimal regulation and availability, intentionality, joint attention, emotional sharing and communication, so vital for deeper parent-child bonding.
