The FCD™ working group is an interdisciplinary group which includes the chairs of all the specific discipline work groups. Other faculty and experts outside of Profectum will also be invited to participate in its discussions and ongoing work.
The goal of the FCD™ work group is to develop integrated models of intervention to address the changing needs of individuals across the life span based on developmental and functional profiles. An ongoing task will be to define, expand and refine the interactive experiences that enhance foundational capacities for future development. Special focus will be given to later childhood, adolescence and young adulthood in addition to the pre-school years. The working group members will bring its extensive expertise to the examination of cases where development does not progress as expected, studying the variability in why individuals respond to interventions differently, identifying gaps in development and earlier interventions, lessons learned from differential outcomes, implications for adolescence and adulthood, etc. Current research will be reviewed and lessons learned will be applied to developmental theory, building models, and research recommendations. Models for intervention will be built on FCD™ and the DIR model, integrating various interventions to optimize outcomes based on individual, family and system profiles. As the working group progresses, it will identify further principles and recommendations for best practice based on clinical outcomes and relevant research.
