The Intersection of Visual-Spatial Processing and Developmental Function

Visual-spatial thinking affects how we move, think, and feel. You may have 20/20 eyesight, but terrible vision. Take a journey to understand how the visual system works, how it affects our kinesthetic, proprioceptive, vestibular and tactile systems and how it promotes or derails overall development. Learn the impact vision has on learning, movement, behavior and social emotional development.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate eyesight from vision and Identify signs of a vision problems and how assessed.
  • Discuss how vision affects development of language, movement, learning and attention (ADHD).  
  • Describe how these challenges are treated by a developmental optometrist and other disciplines.
  • Identify how visual spatial challenges affect social-emotional development, symbolic play/thought and sense of self 

Who should attend?

Therapists of all related disciplines (intermediate levels), educators and special education, and parents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cancellations more than 10 working days (Mon-Fri) before the start date of this program will result in a refund less a $25.00 cancellation fee.

No refund can be made for a cancellation 9 or fewer working days before this program start date.

Requests for refunds must be received in writing via email to training@profectum.org.

In the event that this program is cancelled, you will be notified immediately via email and a credit will be issued toward a rescheduled program, or the entire submitted fee will be refunded without further liability on the part of the organizer.

To make our training available to as broad a group as possible regardless of geography or time zones, Profectum uses video streaming and video conferencing as our standard technology tools. The course relies on you watching webcasts on your own and joining class discussions using video conferencing (Zoom). You will need a relatively modern PC/MAC and modern broadband internet access.  While Wi-fi can work if your home/office has excellent connectivity, a wired internet connection to your PC/MAC is highly recommended.
