Jeannie Gutierrez, PhD

Jeannie Gutierrez, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with over thirty years of clinical, research, teaching and consulting experience. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago’s combined program in clinical/developmental psychology. Formerly on the faculties of the Erikson Institute and the Arizona School of Professional Psychology, she focused her teaching on her core expertise and passion for child development.

Jeannie undertook post-graduate training in the DIR model through ICDL and became a certified DIR therapist in an effort to better treat children with developmental differences and to support parents who are at the forefront of experiencing their children’s strengths and challenges . Today she is in full-time practice in Chicago where she treats children of all ages, consults to families, clinicians, schools and health-care practices.

Jeannie has mentored professionals working toward DIR model certification. She especially enjoys her work mentoring young professionals and working in close consultation with occupational therapists and speech and language therapists. For over three years she has been a mental health consultant at Soaring Eagle Academy, a private school for children with special needs which incorporates the DIR model into its treatment and educational milieu.

Jeannie is passionate about spending time with her husband and two young adult children. She relaxes by being an avid yoga practitioner and by cooking favorite family Mexican recipes.
